The jobs numbers may be down in January, but the unemployment rate is still stubbornly high.

Housekeeping jobs are down 2.5% in February and 1.9% in March, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The unemployment rate rose to 4.9 percent in March.

Job growth has been strong across the board, but there are some notable differences from the year-ago data.

The BLS reports that the total number of jobs created in February was 5,957,000, while the unemployment number rose to 7.1 million.

The BLS says that jobs created increased 2.9%, while the labor force participation rate rose 1.4%.

The total number employed was up 1.3% in the month of February.

The jobless rate rose 0.6%.
