An IT expert is warning that home-care workers will soon be unable to stay in their homes for extended periods of time and may even be forced to stay at home in order to maintain a home-based job.
In an article titled ‘Home-care services need to adopt automation,’ IT specialist warns that housekeepers will soon no longer be able to stay home for extended hours and may be forced outsource The Next Wires title Home Care Workers Will Be Forced Out, But What About Their Families?
article The home-cleaning industry is booming, and with it has come a flood of new hires.
This year alone, home-services companies have added 1,200 new jobs, and the demand is still growing.
This means that there are many new jobs available, but the jobs won’t be as plentiful as they were just a few years ago.
The jobs will become more and more scarce as technology advances and as home-service companies move away from manual labor.
According to an article published in The New York Times last month, home care workers will be forced into jobs that are less demanding and more automated.
In fact, in the future, there will be fewer and fewer jobs that require a person to stay with their home for long periods of the day.
“There will be a real reduction in the number of hours that workers have to be in their home, because automation will allow them to be with their families and in their own homes more,” said Chris Gautier, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and author of the new book, “How Home-Care Services Could Work.”
According to Gautiers findings, automation will reduce housekeeping jobs, including cleaning and maintenance, by 40 percent to 80 percent.
He estimates that automation could save up to 1 million home-healthcare workers a year in the United States.
And home-keeping is not the only area that will see a reduction in jobs as technology improves.
According a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta released last month titled “How the Home-Based Economy Could Benefit from Artificial Intelligence ,” technology will also be reducing the amount of home-restaurant workers that are needed to maintain the food-service business.
As more home-business owners choose to use technology, they will also need to increase the number and quality of food-serving workers.
In addition, many restaurant owners will be able access technology to increase their service and make the restaurant more efficient.
The report also predicts that home services businesses will need to create more flexible scheduling to accommodate people who want to work from home and also that the cost of home services will increase.
In other words, home workers will have to stay longer at home, or they may have to move from one job to another.
According the report, the cost to the consumer of a home service could be between $4.2 and $5.6 per hour, depending on how much time is spent cleaning the premises, maintaining the home, and providing a service such as laundry, cooking, and maintaining the house.
Additionally, the report suggests that the amount and quality available in home-delivery services could be cut by as much as 30 percent.
According To The New England Journal of Medicine, these predictions are based on a range of estimates that include an estimate of the number, types, and costs of home cleaning services and food-delivering services, as well as the size and scope of home and home-related services.
According TOJ, home service and home delivery could be reduced by an estimated 9.8 percent in the next 20 years.
And the cost could increase by an additional $8.8 billion by 2025.
However, Gautyier warns that while these projections are dire, there are some bright spots in the industry.
He says there are several reasons that companies are willing to look beyond their current business models to invest in technology, and that companies will soon see the value of this technology.
AccordingTo Gautiest, the biggest reason companies are looking at automation is that they are seeing that they have an opportunity to increase revenue and profits.
In order to achieve this, he says that technology will be necessary, and this means that companies should not only consider using it, but also use it in new ways.
“If you think about it, it is a way of looking at what technology can do, and how it can be used,” Gautily said.
“You can have an automated food delivery system, and a home delivery system.
That is really what is happening now.
We are moving into that world, and there are companies that are looking for that opportunity.”
